A guide to the Market

General information for customers

  • We highly recommended that everyone wears a high visibility vest on site, much of our trading takes place at night and even though our estate is well lit, it is essential that people are visible at all times.
  • Forklift vehicles operate across the site, please take care in the external parts of the site and do not walk in the forklift crossing lanes inside the market halls.
  • Be aware that forklifts do cross over the perimeter road, both to load customers vehicles and at one end of the site to go to tenant warehouses.
  • The market road is a strict one way system, that we police rigorously for health and safety reasons.
  • No animals are allowed on site without permission of BWMC management.
  • Deliveries are only to be made directly for tenants, dropping off goods for other clients is not allowed.
  • Fly tipping is not allowed and anyone caught fly tipping will be prosecuted.
  • The estate is fully covered by CCTV and monitored 24 hours a day for your safety and security.
  • No smoking or vaping is allowed within any building on the Wholesale Market Estate.
  • Please put rubbish in the waste bins provided.
  • No children under 16 are allowed on the estate for health and safety reasons.

Traffic regulations

  • For general vehicles the speed limit is 10mph, for forklifts the maximum speed is 5mph.
  • Stationary vehicles; there should be no engine idling except for refrigerated vehicles powering refrigerated plant.
  • All vehicles must reverse onto the hard standings outside of tenant units.
  • All vehicles entering, on the estate or leaving the estate may be searched. If a driver refuses they may be refused entry or asked to leave the estate.
  • Customer/delivery vehicles breakdowns will be managed by security. If your vehicle breaks down, please contact security on the estate.
  • The use of audio equipment is prohibited in stationary vehicles.
